Drawing on his experience as a Navy SEAL, White House Fellow, national champion boxer, and humanitarian aid worker, Eric Greitens, in his keynote address, will discuss the virtues required for inspirational and effective leadership in today’s world. He argues that true leaders challenge their followers, and he speaks about the power of humility and the need for courage. As a United States Navy SEAL offi cer, Greitens has been deployed four times during the global war on terrorism. He used his combat pay from Iraq to start the Center for Citizen Leadership to provide fellowships to returning veterans to engage in public service work in the United States. Greitens was an Angier B. Duke Scholar at Duke University and was selected as a Rhodes and Truman Scholar while earning his master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Oxford.
