John Kenagy, MD, MPA, who for 30 years has been a physician, health system executive and researcher feels traditional business methods in health care are ineffective: too slow, cumbersome and expensive. After frustrations with current methods he experienced while being a patient, Dr. Kenagy earned an advanced management degree from Harvard and was appointed a visiting scholar at Harvard Business School. There, his research and teaching focused on the adaptive capabilities of innovative companies that excelled when others failed. He founded Kenagy & Associates LLC, to transfer those capabilities to health care. The result is sustainable improvement that starts at the front line by creating a clinical and business focus on ideal patient care and then building problem solving and improvement into the work. Dr. Kenagy has published articles in several journals and has been featured as ‘the man who would save health care’ by Forbes Magazine.
