Health Care Apprenticeship Program

The Kansas Health Care Apprenticeship Program is a grant supported workforce development project coordinated by Healthworks and the Kansas Hospital Association to help hospitals address workforce challenges through registered apprenticeships that are backed by funding to upskill, recruit and train employees and new hires into needed roles in your organization.

Healthworks has received a two-year Patterson Family Foundation grant to support rural health care facilities to build their workforce through the apprenticeship model. The Kansas Apprenticeship Act also provides all health care facilities, regardless of geography, with grants or tax credits as per apprentice funding. Kansas hospitals and health care facilities can now launch a registered apprenticeship with structured technical assistance and support at no cost while receiving workforce development funding. What are Health Care Apprenticeships?

Health care apprenticeships provide a unique "earn while you learn" opportunity, offering individuals paid employment while they gain professional credentials in various health care roles. These programs benefit hospitals by addressing workforce shortages and fostering the development of skilled, competent employees while receiving workforce development dollars to offset costs. For apprentices, it’s a chance to grow their careers without the burden of education costs.
