Kansas Association Medical Staff Services

The Kansas Association Medical Staff Services is a professional association that was formed in 1989 to provide continuing education opportunities and promote the improvement of professional knowledge and skill by uniting persons engaged in medical staff activities throughout the state and under the auspices of the national organization National Association Medical Staff Services. Its members consist of medical staff assistants, coordinators, managers, directors and consultants; managed care professionals; administrative assistants; credentialing specialists; health information managers; and risk managers.

KAMSS members are offered opportunities to earn CEU credits by participating in KAMSS meetings and the state association annual meeting. They are kept up-to-date on the national level with other medical staff services personnel and are offered membership to join NAMSS. NAMSS offers the following certification programs to its members: Certified Professional Medical Staff Management and Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist. These certifications are a recognized standard of excellence in the medical staff profession.

By networking with their peers, KAMSS members are able to exchange information and concepts helpful in solving common issues related to the medical staff organization. KAMSS publishes a quarterly newsletter and has a scholarship program for the purpose of providing financial assistance to its members for eligible activities to foster personal and professional growth and enhance knowledge and competence in the medical staff services field.
