(March 10, 2025) – Today, the House Health and Human Services Committee worked Senate Bill 250. The legislation would enact the Right to Try for Individualized Treatments Act to permit a manufacturer to make an individualized investigative treatment available to a requesting patient.
The committee held a lengthy conversation on clinical trials and those conditions without trials available in America.
The committee amended the legislation in the following ways:
- Changes to attestation/consent forms
- Not requiring patient to have expertise on their prognosis or condition
- Witness to consent must not be related to physician or business marketing the treatment
- A patient's estate may be held liable for the patient's treatment
The committee passed the bill as amended. The bill will now go to the House floor for a final vote.
