(March 25, 2026) – Yesterday, the House Welfare Reform Committee and the Senate Government Efficiency Committee Conference committee discussed House Bill 2004. The bill requires the secretary of the Kansas Department for Children and Families and the secretary of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to execute a memorandum of understanding or other written data-sharing instrument upon written request of the United States Department of Agriculture or the United States Department of Health and Environment. The committee agreed to extend the response time for KDHE from 30 days to 60 days. They also plan to include the contents of House Bill 2731, as passed by the House, which requires DCF to exchange data with the Office of the Inspector General.
The committee is also planning to move and amend the contents of Senate Bill 363 into House Bill 2731.
