(March 26, 2026) – The conference committee report for the budget bill is now in CCR for House Bill 2513. Some health-related items contained in the budget include:
- Kansas State Board of Nursing transfer to the Nurse Fair Treatment and Recovery Fund
- Added $44,540 for the Board of Governors of the Kansas Health Care Stabilization Fund Board of Governors
- Added $218,619 State General Fund for 6.0 full-time employee positions for the Office of Inspector General to increase audits and investigations
- Removed $1.0 million from the fund to reimburse counties and hospitals for patient observation and transportation funds
- Added language to require reporting to the Office of the Ombudsman on involuntary discharges
- Medicaid Daily add-on rate for long-term care of $15/day
- Added $1 million for mobile sedation dentistry
- Added $56.5 million for the Children's Health Insurance Program
- Added for contract staffing at state hospitals: $10 million for Larned, $2 million for Osawatomie
- $22 million for the new South Central Mental Health Hospital
Votes in both the House and Senate are likely to come later this evening.
