(April 11, 2025) – Yesterday, the Kansas Senate voted on a global package to override all of the Line-Item vetoes of the budget bill contained in Senate Bill 125, fiscal year budget bill for FY 26, 27 and 28. Line-item vetoes included the following:

- Commerce – Arts Commission Restrictions
- Kansas Department of Health and Environment – Disease Control
- Kansas Department of Health and Environment – Cerebral Palsy Research
- Kansas Department of Health and Environment – Dental Services
- Kansas Department of Health and Environment – 12-month Medicaid continuous eligibility
- Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services – SPARK Funding Continuation
- Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services – Lapsed Funding for CCBHC's
- Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services – Larned Contract Staffing

The Senate voted 30-10 to override all line-item vetoes.
Late yesterday, the House took a different approach, packing together several items for veto override. The House motion to override the smaller list of items failed on a vote of 82-42. The 15-item package included:

- Department of Administration Press Office Lease Costs
- Lottery – Legislative Interference in Sports Gaming
- Commerce – Purple UAS
- Commerce – Arts Commission Restrictions

- Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services- Lapsed Funding for CCBHC's
- Kansas Department for Children and Families – Interpreter Services
- Kansas Board of Regents – Scholarship Lapses
- Corrections – O'Connell Children's Shelter
- State 911 Board – Mapping Grant Program
- Kansas State University Veterinary Medical Center
- Kansas Highway Patrol – Jabara Airport Hanger
The House saw a renewed motion to reconsider today the action from the previous day and gained the number needed to override on a second vote of 88-34. The House vote means only those provisions listed above will have a veto override.
