Healthworks Board Meeting - March 12

KHA established a foundation for its members in 1969 and redesigned it in 1998 as a 501(c)3 organization. Healthworks, previously the Kansas Hospital Education and Research Foundation, is funded through contributions, grants and educational fees.

Infection Prevention Conference - Mar. 13-14

This conference helps prepare healthcare professionals to be facilitators and resources for the surveillance, prevention, and control of infections. Attendees will discover proven strategies for implementing infection prevention programs. Time will be allotted during the conference for attendees to network and discuss issues with other infection prevention professionals. All participants will receive infection prevention reference materials.

AHA Regional Policy Board Meeting - Mar. 20-21

The American Hospital Association convenes this event to bring together hospital leaders from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. AHA staff sets a full agenda to discuss current and future hospital and health care issues.

KHA Board Meeting - Mar. 25

The Kansas Hospital Association has a 21-member board of directors. They meet at least five times a year. Each board member holds three-year terms, with a two-term limit. The board has a composition of members from all geographic areas of Kansas all sizes and types of member hospitals are represented. The board also includes two hospital trustees and two physician members. Other participants include American Hospital Association delegate.

House Commerce Committee Hears Nursing Instructor Bill

Workforce Report (March 5, 2025) – Today, the House Commerce Committee met to hold a hearing on bills. Among those was House Bill 2392, which facilitates nursing workforce development by setting maximum education levels for instructors at nursing schools as a requirement for state approval.

Proponent testimony was provided by Kylee Childs, LeadingAge Kansas, with written supporting testimony provided by the Kansas Chamber.

Neutral written only testimony was submitted by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.

Opposition written only opposition was provided by Johnson County Community College.
