(Mar. 15, 2024) – Today, the Joint Rules and Regulations Committee, chaired by Sen. Kellie Warren (R-Leawood), heard changes to administrative rules and regulations from several agencies including the Kansas Department of Labor. The department gave an overview of KAR 51-9-7, fees for medical and hospital services, and increases the peer group by $200 for primary charges and renews every two years based on data from the Council of National Compensation of Insurance similar to what is provided for Medicare. The department estimated a small impact. The committee requested information on who provided testimony. The department pointed to testimony provided by the Kansas Hospital Association, Kansas Medical Society, Osteopathic Medicine, Chiropractor Association, Physical Therapy Association and Kansas Occupational Therapy Association.
The committee heard other rules and regulations from the State Board of Mortuary Arts, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment – Environment Division, the Kansas Department of Water, the Kansas State Board of Education, the Secretary of State's Election Office and the Department of Revenue Alcoholic Beverage Control.
The committee will meet Apr. 29.
