Schedule (Jan. 24, 2025) – Legislative bill hearings will pick up next week, as does the pace for agency budgets before the House budget committees. With the House tackling the budget and the Senate taking the lead on tax issues, the legislative leadership remains committed to a quick session pace for the 2025 session.

Hearing: Senate Bill 63 – Enacting the Help Not Harm Act, restricting the use of state funds to promote gender transitioning, prohibiting health care providers from providing gender transition care to children whose gender identity is inconsistent with the child's sex, authorizing a civil cause of action against health care providers for providing such treatments, requiring professional discipline against a health care provider who performs such treatment, prohibiting professional liability insurance from covering damages for health care providers that provide gender transition treatment to children and adding violation of the act to the definition of unprofessional conduct for physicians.
