Property Tax Constitutional Amendment Reconsidered and Passed by Senate, Fails in the House
(March 27, 2025) – Today, the Senate saw a motion to reconsider the
Senate Concurrent Resolution 5011, a constitutional amendment to section 1 article 11 of the Constitution of the state of Kansas; relates to property taxation; limits valuation increases for real property. The bill received 26 votes, failing to meet the two-thirds majority needed to pass. The reconsideration was successful on a vote of
27-13. This reconsideration means the constitutional amendment has now received the two-thirds majority in the Senate. However, this afternoon, the concurrent resolution was taken up by the House and failed on a vote of
37-88.
