Senate Public Health and Welfare Hears Bill on Health Care Stabilization Fund

Kansas Legislature (Feb. 6, 2025) – Today, the Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee held a hearing on Senate Bill 41. The bill adds advanced practice registered nurses to the definition of health care provider for purposes of the Healthcare Provider Insurance Availability Act.

Proponents included:

  • Dustin Baker, Kansas Advance Practice Nurses Association

Clark Shultz, executive director of the Health Care Stabilization Fund, answered committee member questions.

The committee will meet again to hold a hearing on Senate Bill 29. The bill regulates the activities of local health officers related to public health functions and revokes the secretary's authority to quarantine individuals and impose penalties for violations thereof.
