Senate Slated to Debate Bills

Kansas Senate Chamber (March 17, 2025) – Today, the Senate is slated to debate the following bills:

  • House Bill 2333 renames the Kansas Insurance Department as the Kansas Department of Insurance, the office of the Securities Commissioner of Kansas as the Department of Insurance, Securities Division, the Securities Commissioner as the Department of Insurance Assistant Commissioner, Securities Division and eliminates the requirement that the Senate confirm the Department of Insurance Assistant Commissioner, Securities Division appointees
  • House Bill 2044 requires that third-party administrators maintain separate fiduciary accounts for individual payors and not contain funds collected or held on behalf of multiple payors and discloses to the Commissioner of Insurance any bankruptcy petition filed by or on behalf of such administrator
  • House Bill 2049 updates public adjuster and insurance agent statutes that pertains to suspension, revocation, denial of licensure and licensure renewal
  • House Bill 2201 provides for the Future Farmer of America distinctive license plate
  • Senate Bill 119 increases the amount of fees retained by the county treasurer, the division of vehicles or a contractor for processing motor vehicle license applications and certificates of titles
  • House Bill 2061 includes aboveground and belowground lines, cables and wires in the definition of a critical infrastructure facility used for telecommunications or video services for the crimes of trespassing on a critical infrastructure facility and criminal damage to a critical infrastructure facility
  • House Bill 2371 amends the Kansas Revised Limited Liability Company Act, the Business Entity Transactions Act and the Business Entity Standard Treatment Act
  • House Bill 2075 requires that a permanency hearing for a child in custody of the secretary be held within nine months from such child's removal from the home
  • House Bill 2168 provides for the blackout distinctive license plate and creates the License Plate Replacement Fund to deposit the royalty fees from such license plates for purposes of replacing exhausted license plates
  • House Bill 2030 excludes dealers and manufacturers of trailers from certain provisions of the Vehicle Dealers and Manufacturers Licensing Act

The Senate is expected to debate the Senate Budget on the floor on Tuesday, March 18.
