Senate Takes Up Health Care Bills

Kansas Senate Chamber (March 16, 2026) – Today, the Senate is expected to debate the following health care related bills:

House Bill 2761 enacts the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Act to provide for the licensure of speech-language pathology assistants.

House Bill 2533 enacts the Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact to provide interstate practice privileges to occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants.

The Senate is also slated to debate:

Senate Bill 513 directs the Kansas Department for Children and Families to develop, procure and implement software to provide direct child care subsidy payments to child care providers.

House Bill 2471 designates a portion of I-35 as the deputy Sam Smith Memorial Highway and redesignates a current portion of the 35th Infantry Division Memorial Highway for I-35.

House Bill 2615 designates a portion of U.S. Highway 75 as the Brigadier General George H. Wark Memorial Highway and redesignates a current portion of the Purple Heart/Combat Wounded Veterans Highway for U.S. Highway 75.

House Bill 2622 modifies the municipal lease-purchase protest petition requirements.

S Sub for House Bill 2099 authorizes the Secretary of Corrections, on behalf of the state of Kansas, to convey certain real property located in Leavenworth County, Kansas, to Leavenworth County.

Senate Bill 415 makes certain Violations of the Residential Landlord and Tenant Act subject to the remedies and enforcement provisions of the Kansas Consumer Protection Act.
