(March 17, 2025) – Today, the Senate Ways and Means Committee, chaired by Senator Rick Billinger (R-Goodland), held hearings on the following bills:
- House Bill 2195, establishing the Kansas technical college operating grant fund administered by the state board of regents.
- House Bill 2221 abolishes the Kansas Department of Corrections Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Fund, creates the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Fund and transferring the moneys and liabilities from such abolished fund to the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Fund.
- Senate Bill 290 provides funding for the Kansas Historical Society to issue a scope statement, plans the work to be accomplished and issues a request for proposals for a master plan for the Quindaro Ruins Archaeological Park in Wyandotte County, Kansas, and implement such master plan
- Senate Concurrent Resolution 1612 proposes to amend the constitution of the state of Kansas by allowing the legislature to contract public debt and pledges to the payment thereof the full faith, credit and taxing power of the state and giving the legislature authority over all matters concerning the contracting of public debt
The committee will meet again on Tuesday, March 18.
