Senate Ways and Means Hears Bills

Kansas Legislature (Feb. 12, 2025) – Today, the Senate Ways and Means Committee, chaired by Senator Rick Billinger (R-Goodland), held hearings on the following:

Senate Bill 101 creates the drug abuse resistance education (DARE) educator position.

Proponents:

  • Randy Combs with the Office of the Attorney General
  • Rhonda and Andrew Burris private citizens who lost their son to a drug overdose.

The committee also heard from Representative Robyn Essex (R-Olathe) who supported the legislation.

Senate Bill 214 enacts the Attorney Training Program for Rural Kansas Act to provide financial assistance to lawyers and law students who practice law in rural areas.
