(Sept. 27, 2024) – In 2023, the Kansas Hospital Association worked with the legislature to pass a program allowing reimbursement to hospitals for round-the-clock patient observation and the transportation costs of involuntary admission of patients to state hospitals. The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services updated its website, and the forms for reimbursement are now updated. The form can be found by visiting KDADS Form for Involuntary Patients. You can view the website and get all the information by visiting https://www.kdads.ks.gov/state-hospitals.
Hospitals seeking reimbursement must fill out a W-9 form for payment.
A webinar overview of the program can be found at KHA/KDADS Webinar of Involuntary Commitment Patient Observation and Transportation Reimbursement. A copy of the presentation can be found at KDADS Presentation.
