Dr. Dane Ditto Makes Big Impact in Hometown Community
(June 21, 2024) –The Kansas Hospital Association's Heart of Health Care Worker Award highlights hospital employees who have made a significant contribution to the betterment of their hospital. These individuals are nominated for this award because they routinely go above and beyond the call of duty.
Dane Ditto, MD, serves as Wamego Family Clinic's chief staff. He oversees all the medical and administrative aspects of the practice, including credentialing, quality improvement, risk management, patient experience, and specialty areas such as the cardiac rehab program and walk-in clinic.
Dr. Ditto is always willing to lend a hand, whether it is assisting with a challenging patient in the emergency department or providing guidance to younger providers with a differential diagnosis. He has helped oversee expansion projects in the hospital, including the creation of the new MRI suite. He is also extremely welcoming to new providers, understanding it is not an easy task to recruit and retain physicians in rural health care. Dr. Ditto frequently hosts welcoming gatherings for new providers and their families when they are new to Wamego.
Raised in Wamego, Dr. Ditto consistently strives to add and improve health care services in his community. He added pain management and orthopedic services. He serves as the medical director of the Pottawatomie County EMS. With his focus on safety, he helped improve quality measures in the clinic and assisted Wamego Health Center in winning the 2023 Kansas Healthcare Collaborative Award for Quality for small hospitals. Additionally, he has helped the emergency department earn accreditation from the American College of Emergency Physicians for a Geriatric Specialty E.D.
Dr. Ditto and other Heart of Health Care Worker Award nominees will be recognized during the KHA Awards Luncheon at the 2024 KHA Annual Convention on Sept. 5, 2024, at Sheraton Overland Park/Overland Park Convention Center, Overland Park.
