News (May 17, 2024) – Nominations for Partnership for Quality Measurement Committees – Deadline June 7
Battelle is accepting nominations through 10:59 p.m. June 7, 2024, for Partnership for Quality Measurement committees supporting the Endorsement & Maintenance and Pre-Rulemaking Measure Review processes. Individuals and organizations may nominate themselves or others using the PQM nomination form. Involvement in these committees is a chance to have Kansas clinical voices heard as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service reviews and makes decisions on clinical quality measures. Submit a nomination today!

For PRMR Committees
Battelle is accepting nominations for three PRMR committees:

  • Clinician
  • Hospital
  • Post-Acute Care/Long-Term Care

PRMR committee members use their lived experiences and areas of expertise to recommend health care quality measures currently under consideration for use in select CMS programs. Learn more about what to expect as a committee member in the PQM Guidebook of Policies and Procedures for PRMR and MSR.

Measure Set Review members, who review measures for removal from CMS programs, are selected from seated PRMR committee members. If interested in serving on MSR, please indicate this in your nomination form.

For E&M Projects
Battelle is accepting nominations for five E&M projects:

  • Advanced Illness and Post-Acute Care
  • Cost and Efficiency
  • Initial Recognition and Management
  • Management of Acute Events, Chronic Disease, Surgery and Behavioral Health
  • Primary Prevention

E&M committee members review and recommend endorsement decisions about health care quality measures to Battelle. Through this review, E&M committee members ensure the health care measures Battelle endorses are evidence-based, scientifically sound, safe and effective, and are consistent with current professional knowledge. CMS Issues New Memorandum Type
The Centers Medicare & Medicaid Services Quality, Safety & Oversight Group introduced a new memorandum type, Quality and Safety Special Alert memos. These memos are geared toward specific provider types and serve as reminders of existing obligations or requirements. These QSSAM will not have any modifications to existing survey and certification policies. QSSAM-24-1-Hospital is the first such issued memo and addresses reporting of abuse and neglect.

CMS Issues Increasing Organ Transplant Access Model Proposed Rule
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced a proposed model that would increase access to kidney transplants for all people living with end-stage renal disease. The Increasing Organ Transplant Access Model is intended to improve the quality of care and reduce disparities among individuals seeking kidney transplant services while increasing the efficiency and capability of transplant hospitals. Comments about the proposed rule will be due 60 days after the date of publication in the Federal Register.

  • The American Heart Association Scholars – EmPowered Scholars program awards scholarships to enrolled undergraduate students who volunteer in their communities to use toward their education expenses. The 2024 application window is open through Friday, June 7.
  • The American Society for Health Care Human Resources Administration is hosting a webinar about "Creating the Destination for Fulfilling Careers in Healthcare" at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21. This webinar is complimentary to both ASHHRA members and non-members. Live webinar attendees can earn one education credit (CHHR, ACHE Fellowship, HRCI, SHRM).
