Wallet money stethoscope (Aug. 21, 2026) – Ninety-three Kansas Hospital Association member hospitals participated in the KHA Hospital Public Funding Survey for calendar year 2025. Results from the survey are shared with participating hospitals, support KHA's advocacy efforts and help ensure our members and policymakers have information on mill levies sales taxes and other public funding sources that support hospital operations.

Sixty-seven percent of the hospitals reported receiving some form of public support, with 74 percent from mill levies (county or district), 42 percent from sales tax and 11 percent from foundations. Sixteen facilities reported receiving more than one type of public funding.

Funding reported from mill levies ranged from $105,000 fo $2.8 million. Reported funding from sales tax ranged from $87,500 to just under $3 million per year.
