Implementation of Kansas Consumer Prescription Protection and Accountability Act
(June 26, 2026) – The Kansas Department of Insurance has issued two guidance documents on the implementation of Senate Bill 20. SB 20 was signed into law on April 9, 2026, establishing the Kansas Consumer Prescription Protection and Accountability Act. The Act establishes a new regulatory framework for pharmacy benefit managers to increase fairness and transparency in their practices.
The provisions of SB 20 take effect on July 1, 2026. KDOI has issued guidance ahead of the July 1 effective date to assist those affected by the new law:
