Infection Prevention Conference - Mar. 13-14

This conference helps prepare healthcare professionals to be facilitators and resources for the surveillance, prevention, and control of infections. Attendees will discover proven strategies for implementing infection prevention programs. Time will be allotted during the conference for attendees to network and discuss issues with other infection prevention professionals. All participants will receive infection prevention reference materials.

AHA Regional Policy Board Meeting - Mar. 20-21

The American Hospital Association convenes this event to bring together hospital leaders from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. AHA staff sets a full agenda to discuss current and future hospital and health care issues.

KHA Board Meeting - Mar. 25

The Kansas Hospital Association has a 21-member board of directors. They meet at least five times a year. Each board member holds three-year terms, with a two-term limit. The board has a composition of members from all geographic areas of Kansas all sizes and types of member hospitals are represented. The board also includes two hospital trustees and two physician members. Other participants include American Hospital Association delegate.

Reporting of Cases of Influenza with Neurologic Complications

(March 7, 2025) – Because of the national reports of the possibility of an increase in cases of children and adults with influenza and with neurologic complications, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment is asking for your assistance. On March 4, KDHE issued a Kansas Health Alert Network News Flash, Call for Cases – Neurologic Complications of Influenza Infection, describing the nationwide suspected increase in influenza-associated encephalopathy and encephalitis. The HAN provides recommendations for clinicians evaluating patients and requests reporting suspected cases to the KDHE Epidemiology Hotline at (877) 427-7317 (option 5), fax to (877) 427-7318 or send via a secure, HIPAA-compliant email to kdhe.epihotline@ks.gov.
