(March 7, 2025) – Because of the national reports of the possibility of an increase in cases of children and adults with influenza and with neurologic complications, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment is asking for your assistance. On March 4, KDHE issued a Kansas Health Alert Network News Flash,
Call for Cases – Neurologic Complications of Influenza Infection, describing the nationwide suspected increase in influenza-associated encephalopathy and encephalitis. The HAN provides recommendations for clinicians evaluating patients and requests reporting suspected cases to the KDHE Epidemiology Hotline at (877) 427-7317 (option 5), fax to (877) 427-7318 or send via a secure, HIPAA-compliant email to
kdhe.epihotline@ks.gov.
