(July 2, 2026) – The National Emerging Special Pathogens Training and Education Center has announced a funding opportunity through the National Special Pathogen Systems Level 2 Special Pathogen Treatment and Network Development initiative. The initiative aims to strengthen the NSPS by expanding and enhancing the network of Level 2 Special Pathogen Treatment Centers in the US. Up to 21 health care facilities will be selected to receive $500,000 each, along with NETEC training, assessments, consultation and technical assistance. Facilities do not need to currently meet all NSPS Level 2 capabilities to apply. Eligible applicants include health care facilities with airborne infection isolation capability, emergency services, critical care capacity, and inpatient care services.
