(Aug. 7, 2026) – The Kansas Nursing Workforce Center released the State of Nursing Education in Kansas report. The report spans 120 pages of charts and information on Kansas nursing education programs, broken down by program type (BSN, ADN, PN).
The data analyzed—from the Kansas Board of Regents, the Kansas State Board of Nursing, the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing—describe the characteristics of the Kansas nursing education pipeline.
Bright spots in the education pipeline include:
- Program capacity has increased.
- New student admissions to nursing programs have increased.
- Pass rates on the licensure exam exceed the national average.
- Graduates' employment rates are high.
Leaks (and opportunities for improvement) in the education pipeline include:
- Some programs have unfilled seats.
- Enrollment in nursing programs has declined.
- Attrition in ADN and PN programs is up.
