(Nov. 7, 2025) – The Kansas Hospital Association is pleased to provide KHA members with an updated Model Medical Staff Bylaws for use at their facilities. Due to several recent changes, including nurse practitioner independent practice legislation and the creation of the Rural Emergency Hospital, KHA wanted to offer members an updated template that reflects these developments. The Model Medical Staff Bylaws is a benefit for KHA members, so the link requires login. KHA gratefully acknowledges the valuable feedback from many hospital CEOs and physician leaders who serve on KHA's Hospital Physician Leadership Committee.
These Model Medical Staff Bylaws were developed through collaboration between KHA, the KHA Hospital Physician Leadership Committee and KHA's external legal counsel, Goodell, Stratton, Edmonds & Palmer, LLP. They serve as a resource for KHA members as they update their own Medical Staff Bylaws. These Model Medical Staff Bylaws do not provide legal advice and should not be relied upon as such. KHA Members should consult their own legal counsel before adopting or amending Medical Staff Bylaws for their facilities.
The updates to the bylaws were made with the goal that KHA members customize them to fit the needs, size, staff and practices of their facilities, in consultation with their legal advisors. We hope you find the editable version of the Model Medical Staff Bylaws to be a helpful resource for your facility and medical staff.
