(Feb. 3, 2026) - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 217–214 to approve a five-bill government funding package that includes the Labor-Health and Human Services appropriations bill and a range of health care extenders. The House sent the measure to President Donald Trump’s desk for signature, officially ending the partial government shutdown. The package also contains a short-term continuing resolution to fund the Department of Homeland Security through next Friday, Feb. 13, as lawmakers continue negotiations on longer-term border security funding.
This action follows decisive support in the Senate last Friday, Jan. 30, where the funding package passed by 71–29, underscoring bipartisan interest in reopening federal operations and securing appropriations for key programs. The inclusion of the Labor-HHS bill in the package means critical health programs and agencies have received funding authority for the remainder of FY 2026, and the health care extenders, such as Medicare telehealth flexibilities and the Low-Volume Adjustment, remain in place for at least one year.
