NON-REIMBURSED CARE IN KANSAS COMMUNITY HOSPITALS | 2014-2022

The amount of non-reimbursed care continues to increase in community hospitals. Non-reimbursed care is the difference between gross patient revenue (the amount of billed charges) and net patient revenue (the amount of payment received). In 2022, the amount of non-reimbursed care r over remained at $26 billion. Since 2014 gross patient revenue has increased  74 percent. Meanwhile, net patient revenue has only increased only 37 percent during that same time period and non-reimbursed care has increased by 84 percent.
