COMMUNITY HOSPITAL NATIONAL COMPARISONS |  2018 

In 2018, there were 5,198 community hospitals in the nation.

The number of outpatient visits showed minimal change. The nation’s community hospitals reported an average of 2,343 outpatient visits per 1,000 population, little change from 2015. Kansas ranked 19th in the nation, with 3,026 outpatient visits per 1,000 population. Inpatient admissions for hospitals remained relatively consistent from 2018 to 2019.  Kansas ranked 20th in the nation, with 109 admissions per 1,000 population.
